This year’s conference will feature
needlepoint. Our very special
presenter is Master artisan Nancy Lukoskie of Fancywork Finishing of Easton, MD. Nancy has worked
to restore, repair, and create needlepoint
pieces in churches across the country,
most notably at the Washington
National Cathedral. Her artisans were responsible for creating the beautiful "Creation" cushion above and they restored our Diocese of Chicago cushion which is placed in the Great Choir of the National Cathedral.
Workshops
We are offering four workshops for you to choose from:
7-Steps to Repair Your Needlepoint
Nancy Lukoskie will lead this online workshop which will be available for viewing for those in attendance as well as our online attendees.
Altar Guild: Behind the Scenes
Grace’s rector, The Rev. Greg Milikin, will review basic practices and procedures and Grace's historian will present unique historical pieces from their collection.
National Cathedral Chapel Tour
This is a video presentation of the nine chapels at Washington National Cathedral, introduced by Cathedral clergy. This presentation will give you an introduction to the Cathedral in an up-close and personal way.
Knitting Ministries: Healing in Yarn
Our workshop leader, Judy Morgan, (Trinity, Wheaton), will share ideas for organizing a knitting ministry and explain how the knitting ministry at Trinity has operated for over 10 years. This will also be an opportunity to share projects, resources, and the organizations who are seeking
contributions.
An additional presentation which will be available in person, will be a slide show of needlepoint art across our diocese. The slide show will be available online following the conference.
Registration
This conference will be in person and online. The registration fee for Nancy’s online presentation and her workshop is $10. The in-person conference registration includes lunch and is $30.
